The Mobile Kitchen
This came about after Mr.Ken Kirby donated an 8ftx10ft garden shed in good order. This became a Mobile Kitchen as we needed funds and this idea was put forward by a long time supporter and helper Neil Emmerson. We had a very good enamel wood stove plus a sink and hot water cylinder which we installed in one end. The other end was opened up as a lift up half door and a counter set across the rear. Trailer wheels and draw bar made it towable to functions.
Sign writing and Lino donated by local businesses made it all come together. Many a scone, sausage sizzle and tea and coffee came out of this endeavour and proved very popular. Hot soup was also made on the stove on the colder days.
Older folk relived their youth and the young found doors they had only heard about.
